Founder & Director
Stephanie Atwood (she/her)
Stephanie Atwood is the Founder and Director of ElevateHER Mental Health Support Services Canada. Stephanie created ElevateHER when she noticed a gap in the mental health system in Nova Scotia. Stephanie has been featured in numerous business magazines and newspaper articles for her work. Most recently, she was featured as one of the top 30 Female Entrepreneurs globally for Disruptors Magazine, and as the cover story of Success Pitchers Magazine for Top 10 Female Entrepreneurs. She was also featured in CIO Women's Magazine and Forbes New York.Stephanie initially studied Counselling, Human Services & Correctional Services (NSCC) before receiving a numerous number of diplomas and certificates with ivy league universities such as Stanford, Harvard and University of Michigan all in the Mental Health field. Stephanie also went on to study logotherapy and became a certified life coach within the last 2 years. Stephanie is consistently upgrading her education and values continuous learning.
Program Coordinator
Darcie Nickerson (she/her)
Darcie Nickerson is the Program Coordinator for ElevateHER Mental Health Support Services Canada. As a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, Darcie aims to create a safe and inclusive environment at ElevateHER. Darcie always had a calling to care for others, and early on decided to attend MSVU for a Psychology degree, she later learned that the University path was not for her and enrolled in the Social Services program at NSCC where she graduated in 2021. Darcie's career goals are to facilitate and empower “community care” as an alternative to our reliance on the mental health care system, which she believes is strongly lacking in accessibility and effective resources. She strongly believes that when community can take care of one another, we remove “othering” and the harmful stigmas and injustice that follows. And then can finally begin to heal at the roots
Program Coordinator
Mary-Sarah Crowe (she/her)
Mary-Sarah Crowe is the program coordinator at ElevateHER Mental Health Support Services Canada. Mary-Sarahs goal as a ElevateHER employee is goal to empower others to take control over their lives and their health, both mental and physical. As a recent graduate with a degree in Health Promotion, Mary-Sarah has taken on multiple programs at ElevateHer, including our Girl Code program. She is passionate about helping individuals build routines, practice self-care, find healthy ways to cope with mental health and more.
Program Coordinator and Peer Support
Marlee Johnston (she/her)
Marlee Johnston is the program coordinator and peer support worker at ElevateHER Mental Health Support Services Canada. Marlee's passion for empowering women and creating a supportive environment in the community has driven her to teach women empowerment programs as well as schedule one-on-one support for the community. Marlee is currently taking her Masters in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University, and has a Psychology degree from STFX.
Outreach and Program Coordinator (Shelburne)
Shania Jacklyn (she/her)
Shania is the Outreach and Program Coordinator in the Shelburne area for ElevateHER Mental Health Support Services Canada. Shania uses her lived experience to help empower rural female-identifying parents/caregivers who are at risk of or have experienced gender based violence. Shania is currently completing her Diploma in Child Psychology and her Peer Support Certification. Shania has 10 years of experience in the field, making her well versed in different walks of life.
Outreach and Program Coordinator (Wolfville)
Karin Scott (she/her)
Karin is the Programming Support for the Wolfville area at ElevateHER Mental Health Support Services Canada. Karin has a passion for helping young kids and hopes to become a Guidance Counsellor to substitute teacher. She graduated from Acadia in 2023 with a Degree in Psychology and is currently on a path to getting her Masters in Education. Karin's experience in a day care for over 4 years has confirmed her passion for helping children.
